SUGARCANE PAPER

NCD Geral (2).jpg

All the materials we use in our pieces are special, but if I had to single one out, without a doubt it would be sugar cane paper.

It was with this incredible raw material, coming from the waste of the sugar industry, that everything began and it continues to be the basis of all our creations. Besides being completely tree-free and coming from waste - giving rise to the circularity of resources - this paper is much more sustainable than ordinary paper: it wears down the soil less, needs less water, emits less less water, emits less carbon dioxide, and its source is renewed much more quickly.  With no use of bleaching chemicals, such as chlorine, we have a 100% natural paper, with color true to its essence.

Learn about all its advantages here.

COTTON PAPER

The need to create totally plastic-free products brought us to cotton paper. When paper is laminated - as in the traditional stationery market - it gives the rise to a multi-material product. This combination of paper and plastic makes recycling difficult, and recycling companies often do not sort the product properly, so it ends up never being recycled.
This is why in our hardcover Eco-Notebooks we use a 100% cotton cover, which is stronger and more durable than regular paper but completely free of plastic.
This gives the protection your notebook needs from a totally organic material, without the need for synthetic materials like plastic that are harmful to the environment, from its production to its disposal.

SHIRO ALGAE PAPER

Shiro Algae Paper came as a response to the problem of the Venice Lagoon, where algae were reproducing too fast, eventually consuming too much oxygen. The lack of oxygen was endangering the balance of the lagoon's ecosystem. So the solution was to harvest the algae, dry it, and use it as a substitute for cellulose, giving rise to another case of circular economy.

This paper turns out to have many advantages since, besides helping to clean the waters from the proliferation of harmful algae, it has biological waste as its basic ingredient, that is, without the use of pesticides or chemical additives. In a mixture of algae with plant fibers such as bamboo, cotton or bagasse (sugar cane waste), we obtain a completely tree-free paper from a rapidly renewable source that would otherwise be damaging the lagoon environment.

HEMP THREAD

Made from the long, strong fibers of the cannabis plant, hemp yarn guarantees quality without neglecting respect for the Earth. In addition to needing fewer resources, such as water, in its production, hemp renews itself quickly and without the need for toxic chemicals. That is why all our organic soft cover notebooks are sewn with this totally natural and biodegradable thread.

OTHER MATERIALS

The choice of materials is undoubtedly the factor we dedicate most of our time to. In addition to all the 100% natural ingredients you'll see on this page, we also use: recycled pressed cardboard inside the hard covers; non-toxic white water-based glue; and, for shipping: cardboard boxes, upcycled paper strips and paper tape with natural rubber-based adhesive. Finally, all our eco-cards are protected by a 100% cotton bag.
